# Expert Tips:

01 -
  • It comes together in minutes and uses ingredients you probably already have in your kitchen.
  • The crispy, buttery edges and gooey center hit every craving for comfort food.
  • It's endlessly customizable, so you can make it your own every single time.
02 -
  • Medium heat is your friend, high heat burns the bread before the cheese melts and leaves you with a disappointing crunch and a cold center.
  • Softening the butter first makes spreading easy and prevents tearing the bread, which I learned after ruining too many slices.
  • Let the sandwich rest for a moment after cooking, or the cheese will slide out the second you cut into it.
03 -
  • Press the sandwich gently with your spatula while it cooks to help the cheese melt faster and the bread crisp evenly.
  • If you're making more than two, keep the finished sandwiches warm in a low oven while you cook the rest.
  • Grate your own cheese instead of using pre-shredded, it melts smoother and tastes fresher every time.
